Biathlon Competition - June 2021

On June 5th we were happy to host a Biathlon Competition for the first time in over a year! Five cadets had the opportunity to participate and compete against each other in running and shooting.

Quinn Downie, Eddie Zhao, Kenneth Liang, Josh Gasana, Fei Mo
(Left to Right)

The day started with some stretches. Did you know that as well as preventing injuries, warm up stretches increase the amount of oxygen that's delivered to your muscles? After stretches the events began. The cadets each ran 2 kilometres with 10 second's between start times. Next up was everyone's favorite part: the shooting! The cadets each shot 10 practice shots, before the beginning the Biathlon part of the competition. Each cadet received 5 pellets, to shoot at the 5 targets. It's a race against time, but in the end the cadet with the best score was Quinn Downie! Now the scores are sent off to Regional Cadet Support Unit Atlantic, to get compared with the rest of the maritimes to see who goes to Nationals.

Biathlon is a great activity that EVERY cadet can be involved with, either at a competitive or recreational level. If you are between the ages of 12-18 and want more information on how you can join cadets don't hesitate to email us at: 23kentseacadets@gmail.com
