Who was Lawson Drake?
Lawson Drake, is a former cadet from Rcscc 23 Kent. In July of 1947 Chief Petty Officer Drake was chosen as one of only twenty-five sea cadets from across the country to represent Canada on a visit to the United Kingdom as guests of the Navy League of England. They crossed the Atlantic ocean on aircraft carrier, H.M.C.S Warrior and spent six weeks abroad. The cadets were able to tour around the UK visiting tourist attractions like Big Ben, Edinburgh Castle, and Kings Cross Station.
To this day, cadet from Rcscc 23 Kent receive opportunities to travel the world. In 2015, we took a weekend trip to Halifax. In 2017, we drove to Moncton to do some shopping and hang out with fellow cadets. In 2018, we spent nearly a whole week in Quebec City and Montreal. Not to mention, each summer cadets can spend either 2, 3, or 6 weeks at summer camp in Nova Scotia. And if that's not enough, nearly every year we have cadets go on tall ship deployments, where the travel internationally on a Royal Canadian Navy tall ship.You aren't going to believe this, but cadets is FREE! That's right, you can travel for free, and sometimes we pay you! Cadet's Canada is proud to provide the only paid summer camp in Canada.
