Happy 80th Anniversary - HMCS Sackville

Today is HMCS Sackville's 80th anniversary! Rcscc 23 Kent received a tour of the WWII corvette in 2015. Check out some of the photos of the tour below, and read a little bit of her history. She was named after the New Brunswick border town, Sackville. The 205-foot (62.5 metre) ship is the last remaining Second World War Allied corvettes, and continues to serve as Canada’s Naval Memorial and a National Historic Site. HMCS Sackville was one of 123 corvettes built in the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia shipyards that served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the war. Former Cadet: Colonel Chris Hadfield

Did you know that retired Canadian Astronaut, Colonel Chris Hadfield was a cadet? Hadfield was a member of Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron 820 Milton Blue Thunder which was later renamed to 820 Chris Hadfield Squadron. In a 2018 tweet, Chris Hadfield was quoted saying "(Air) Cadets helped turn me into the astronaut I became. It's where I learned self-discipline, leadership, and how to fly." There are many more amazing Canadians who have gone through the air, army, and sea cadet programs. Stay tuned to hear about the people who got their start in life as a cadet!

7 Year Cadet Career Comes to an End for Charlottetown Sea Cadet

Tonight was the final night of training for a very special cadet! Petty Officer 2nd Class Thomas Xiao has been a cadet at Rcscc 23 Kent of Charlottetown PEI since September 15, 2015 (almost 7 years)! The Rcscc Kent command team would like to thank Petty Officer Xiao for his hard work and dedication to the cadet program, and we wish him a happy 19th birthday when he officially ages out of cadets tomorrow. Thomas Xiao graduated from high school this past June, and has since been working at his parents grocery store, Global Grocery. We wish him all the best with his job, future education, and anything else he pursues!

Rcscc 23 Kent 2021 Promotion and Awards Night! + A New CPO1

 On December 7th, 2021 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 23 Kent held it's final Promotion & Awards night of 2021. Many cadets received their marksmanship and fitness levels, and some were thrilled to receive a promotion!  Also, Rcscc 23 Kent is happy to announce that we have promoted a new CPO1: Patrick O'Hanley. The rank of Chief Petty Officer 1st Class can only be held by one cadet within a cadet unit at any given time. This rank is now given out freely. The deserving cadet must dedicate them-self to the sea cadet program, and exemplify outstanding knowledge of the program, as well as excellent leadership abilities.
